Our Field for the Poor

“‘When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Leave them for the poor and the alien. I am the LORD your God.’” Leviticus 23:22

The combines are out en masse in the fields around my house. Golden browned soybeans, wheat, and corn are being harvested and stored. It’s a time of hard work, but also celebration for God’s provision this year. For the ancient Israelites it meant that and more.
